Our Story

From a Passion Project to Saravi Furniture

Running a furniture business from home was never part of our original plan.

We were both working full-time in our day jobs (and still do), but when we moved house, we found ourselves searching for furniture that felt truly special — pieces with character, quality and a story behind them.

We spent hours looking for unique, timeless furniture that we both loved. I was especially determined to find solid wood pieces that would stand the test of time and could be refreshed and refurbished as our home and style evolved. After all, I love changing our décor and colour schemes, so having furniture that could adapt was incredibly important to me.

Our journey began by finding unloved, forgotten pieces and giving them a new lease of life through careful restoration and upcycling.

Then came our own dining table — the piece that changed everything.

After hours of hand sanding, preparing and painting, we transformed an overlooked table and chairs into something beautiful. The moment it was finished, I knew we had created something special. Friends and family loved it too, and soon they were asking us to create similar pieces for their homes.

What started as a hobby slowly grew into something much bigger.

Creating Furniture Built to Last

Our search for quality furniture led us to ask an important question:

"How do we know a piece of furniture is truly built to last?"

We wanted the reassurance that the furniture in our own home was solid, well-made and designed for everyday life. This curiosity inspired us to develop our woodworking skills, understand traditional furniture techniques and start creating our own farmhouse dining tables and benches.

Along the way, we perfected our finishing techniques and experimented with different paints and finishes to understand what would provide the best results for our customers.

Today, every piece we create is carefully considered — from selecting sustainable timber to choosing durable, water-based paints with low VOCs. We believe beautiful furniture should also be made responsibly.

The Story Behind Our Name

We changed our business name from Blaknite to Saravi Furniture.

Saravi is inspired by an acronym of our names — reflecting the personal involvement, passion and dedication we both bring to every piece we create.

Although our name has changed, our values remain the same: creating beautiful, timeless farmhouse furniture that brings people together.
